Madlin B. Mekelburg

I am a journalist in Austin, where I write about legal news for Bloomberg.

I have covered state and national politics in Texas since 2015. Most recently, I reported on state politics and elections as the chief politics reporter for the Austin American-Statesman/USA TODAY Network. Previously, I truth-tested claims made by public officials for PolitiFact Texas and worked as the Austin correspondent for the El Paso Times. I have also completed fellowships at the Dallas Morning News and the Texas Tribune.

I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (hook ‘em), where I studied journalism and French. I currently serve on the board of the Friends of The Daily Texan.
