About Me

I am a journalist in Austin, where I write about the state budget, environmental issues and politics at the Austin American-Statesman.

You can find my work in the American-Statesman, USA Today and any Gannett-owned newspaper in Texas. Previously, I truth-tested claims made by public officials for PolitiFact Texas and the American-Statesman.

I have covered state and national politics in Texas since 2015 and have also written about issues like transportation, women’s health and immigration.

Prior to fact-checking for PolitiFact Texas, I worked as the Austin corespondent for the El Paso Times, where I covered Beto O’Rourke’s 2018 campaign for the U.S. Senate and wrote about family separations at the U.S. Mexico border.

I have also completed fellowships at the Dallas Morning News’ Austin bureau and at the Texas Tribune.

I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (hook ‘em), where I studied journalism and French. I also worked as a reporter and editor at The Daily Texan.
